About us - presenting Hessen Digital Radio

Hessen Digital Radio GmbH was established in mid 2000 with headquarters at Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It is a joint venture between T-Systems International GmbH, DeutschlandRadio Berlin and the regional private radio authority in Hesse (LPR Hessen). The venture's mission is to expand Hesse's DAB digital radio networks speedily and efficiently. Hessen Digital Radio coordinates and markets the transmission capacity, thereby providing the platform for digital radio broadcasting in Hesse.

Besides radio program broadcasts in near-CD quality, digital radio also caters for data casting. For example, clients can retrieve service information, information about motorways in Hesse or the arrival and departure times of trains at the stations: Frankfurt Central, Frankfurt Airport, Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, Giessen, Fulda, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt. Or they can find out the times of flights leaving and arriving at Frankfurt Airport. Along with its data services, Hessen Digital Radio GmbH currently also provides the TMC (Traffic Message Channel) over digital radio. This is a technology that makes dynamic traffic navigation possible throughout Germany.

Hessen Digital Radio GmbH is a member of the Initiative for Marketing Digital Radio (IMDR). The initiative informs consumers about the new radio standard and increases awareness for digital radio in Germany.
