Federal Network Agency improves “in-house supply” of digital radio in Bavaria. Kurth: "A beacon effect for the whole of Germany; added stimulus for digital radio"

The Federal Network Agency has now managed to ensure that improvements will be made to “in-house supplies” of terrestrial digital radio (T-DAB) in Bavaria. Portable indoor reception has been significantly optimized with the upgrading of transmitting power for 19 T-DAB transmitters from currently 1 kW to 10 kW each and an increase for 23 additional T-DAB transmitters from currently 1 kW to 4 kW. "We expect these improved supplies to result in added audience interest in T-DAB," says Matthias Kurth, president of the Federal Network Agency. Forum of Digital Media’s (FDM’s) campaign for radio and new media.

Berlin: Speaking at the "Forum of Digital Media", the head of the department of Technology Policies at the federal ministry of economics, Assistant Secretary Dauke, said that, "The digitalization of radio and media is an important prerequisite for securing existing jobs and creating new ones in the industry." Mr. Dauke also emphasized the need to come up with faster solutions in areas where digitalization has been slow to make advances in the past – in the main sound broadcasting and classic television cable. The next step in the right direction has now been taken! IMDR expressly welcomes the Mainz Declaration.

Bonn: For the Initiative Marketing Digital Radio (IMDR), the joint declaration concerning Digital Radio in frequency band III (a.k.a. the Mainz Declaration) issued by private and public radio broadcasters in Germany is a clear indication that talks between market partners in the radio sector on utilization of the new frequency resources for digital radio subsequent to the 2006 Regional Radiocommunication Conference (RRC 06) have now reached an important new stage. Berlin/Bad Vilbel: Following talks among representatives from ARD and Deutschlandfunk radio, the Technical Commission of the State Media Authorities (TKLM), the Working Group of Private Radio Broadcasters (APR), and the Association of Private Radio and Telemedia Operators (VPRT), who were all invited by the State Radio Commission to attend the meeting held on September 26, 2007, the vice president of radio and audio services at VPRT, Hans-Dieter Hillmoth, was optimistic that the states would soon be submitting their demands for digital radio in frequency band III. Traffic service as media service for the IAA 2007 - Hessischer Rundfunk transmits throughout Hesse in Digital Radio

Berlin, September 5, 2007 - for the Initiative Marketing Digital Radio (IMDR), the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) was a great success. The Digital Radio common stand was, as expected, the communications centre for the topic digital radio and the DAB system family. Intensive talks with representatives from industry and commerce, the car industry and media policy and the programme organizers, private and under public law, have set new impulses for the further development of Digital Radio in Germany. LFK licenses two nationwide radio stations

Stuttgart : The board of the Regulatory Authority for Communication in Baden-Württemberg (LFK) has licensed the radio stations "bigBuddy" and "Regenbogen GOLD" set up nationwide. Both aim to increase the number of listeners via new digital carriers like Digital Radio, DVB-H or digital cable networks. You can find the full press releases here.

Starwaves launches DAB / DRM converter boxs

Starwaves will be launching a new product for digital radio at IFA in Berlin. The so-called Starwaves TruckBox is a DRM-DAB converter box that can also receive analog short wave, medium wave and long wave stations. It is intended mainly for cars. A radio remote is used to operate it, whilst menu navigation and the station name, frequency and other information are shown on the car radio's display. It's available from the T-Online Shop priced EUR 399 incl. VAT - delivery time approx. six weeks.

VHF/DAB/DAB+ / Internet radio and new design

trinloc's stand at IFA will enable DAB and DAB+ reception and allow visitors to listen to them. It will therefore be possible for people to make a direct comparison between the two and listen to the differences in quality - something that has only been discussed in theory up to now. Visitors to trinloc's stand at IFA (Hall 2.2, Stand 107) can see the new devices for themselves and even try them out. "It's the first time that we see trinloc presenting current and new standards together in a designer casing", says Bert Pröpper, Managing Director of trinloc GmbH. ALBRECHT: DAB with FM transmitter

Dreieich: Albrecht presents the first Digital Radio receiver with FM transmitter - the DR 306. It enables users to transfer Digital Radio programs and MP3 files to the car radio, kitchen radio or stereo system wirelessly. The RRP is EUR 199. DAS ERSTE starting today on DMB

Saarbrücken: ARD's joint channel DAS ERSTE is available from today free of charge and unencrypted via DMB. ARD Chairman Fritz Raff: "Mobile TV is developing into a relevant method of broadcasting. Digital radio at CeBit 2007

CeBIT in Hanover will once again open its doors from March 15 - 21, 2007 , and the versatility of DAB technology should not be missing. Hessen Digital Radio GmbH will present the latest on digital radio on site at the hessen-media stand in hall 4 (stand C70.) WDR launches digital radio portal

To do justice to the ever-increasing range of digital radio offerings, Westdeutsche Rundfunk has now set up its own digital radio portal on its homepage. You can find out here which programs are distributed on which channels. What's more, you can listen in to the digital offerings and there is also an extra Help section for digital reception. You can find the new offering at www.wdr.de.

DMB launches in Düsseldorf, Essen and Bonn

Düsseldorf: Around 1.5 million people in Düsseldorf, Essen and Bonn can use Mobile TV via DMB as of now. Anyone living in one of these three cities that owns a compatible mobile phone can now receive TV programs and the digital radio stations broadcast there via the watcha platform from MFD Mobiles Fernsehen Deutschland. 16 conurbations with some 16 million inhabitants therefore already have access to DMB programs. ARD at IFA: Focus on digitization

Saarbrücken: ARD will again be participating in the international consumer electronics fair (IFA) in Berlin in 2007. This year, its stand will focus on digitization. The topic is to be examined in all its facets at information and presentation stands and also conveyed to the public via productions and presentations on a central stage. ARD plans to demonstrate both program-specific and technical development possibilities in the digital world. Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg will be in charge of the stand at IFA.

New program formats for DMB.

Cologne: MFD Mobiles Fernsehen Deutschland has launched a program on the "ProSiebenSat.1 Mobile" channel that's updated every day. The half-hour program window called watchaTV will be broadcast every day from 10 am to 7.30pm and can be received on DMB mobile phones. The program contents include short films by young film-makers and video artists as well as reports on current movies being shot and video clips shot by users themselves, so-called "User Generated Content", from the videotube.de archives.
